Zelra’s Driving Advice System (DAS) has been in the news in France, where the Minister for Transport, Clément Beaune, praised its effectiveness in delivering optimal sustainability and operational outcomes for Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF).

Mr Beaune highlighted the energy savings and decarbonisation benefits delivered by Zelra’s DAS solution. The state rail operator SNCF relies upon DAS to maximise the efficiency of its signature high-speed service, the TGV.

A driver’s journey from tech sceptic to DAS champion

“My perspective became that coasting a 1,500 tonnes train for 15 kms was actually a pretty cool thing, instead of constantly being on the power then on the brake. The penny dropped that if you follow DAS advice, you’re effectively moving the train for free for that 15 kms.

“A significant mindset change for me was realising that combining a driver’s own skills and judgement with the advice is the best use of DAS. I would look at the advice then improve it in small ways, because I understood that I could also make it better at times.

Australia’s largest provider of import and export logistics services has chosen Zelra’s Workforce Management (WFM) solution to support its growing rail business.

The multi-year commitment between Zelra and Qube Logistics is set to deliver WFM technology for Qube’s entire rail operation across Australia’s east coast. Qube has nine depots located between Brisbane and Melbourne, including the Moorebank IMEX Terminal in Sydney which has capacity to receive up to 21 trains per day.
