RSSB have welcomed two new organisations to their affiliate network. They bring specialist expertise that supports key priorities around safety, performance, speed management, and rail reform.
Zelra and GMT Rubber-Metal-Technic join a growing global community of over 60 affiliate organisations. This community works with RSSB to access industry insight, share expertise, and support continuous improvement across the rail sector. It also connects organisations from across the rail industry and wider supply chain, helping members stay informed about emerging challenges, opportunities, and developments.
Zelra supply Driver Advisory Systems (DAS) and Connected Driver Advisory Systems (C-DAS) to passenger and freight operators.
DAS gives drivers real-time speed and timing advice in the cab. This allows for consistent speed management and better-informed decisions while driving. In turn, this supports operators’ speed and safety objectives. The in-cab advice also improves timetable adherence and reduces traction energy use.
Zelra’s DAS is in daily use by operators in the UK and overseas. This includes the UK’s first live mainline C-DAS connection to Network Rail’s LINX real-time traffic management.
The organisation joined RSSB with a particular interest in speed management, Futures Lab, safety, and sustainability activities. They recognise the chances this gives them to engage with industry-wide initiatives that support the development of rail.
“We are pleased to join RSSB, which is an important forum for enabling closer collaboration with industry colleagues. We look forward to sharing our UK and overseas experience of speed management, safety, and energy efficiency in rail operations.”
Michael Zink, Managing Director, Zelra.
The addition of Zelra and GMT Rubber-Metal-Technic broadens the expertise represented within RSSB’s affiliate community. Their specialist knowledge in the following areas creates new opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing across rail:
By bringing together diverse organisations, RSSB’s affiliate network helps support a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable railway.
